I participated in the Congress of the Japanese Society for Regenerative Medicine this year again. This year I was accepted to give an oral presentation, which I did successfully. It was a great opportunity for me to get a lot of input. We have just submitted the data of my presentation as a paper, so hopefully we will be able to publish it soon. It was also good to meet and talk with Deepak, the president of Gladstone Institutes, where I did my postdoc, for the first time in a while.

However, it was still tough to commute to Yokohama every day. I know there are many people who commute this distance every day, so I know I am a bit spoiled. When it comes to academic conferences, I usually stay at a nearby hotel or go to a closer venue in Tokyo. Yokohama is an exquisite distance. Havng said that, this year, the Molecular Biology Society of Japan meeting this year is also here again.

This year, perhaps because the conference chairman, Dr. Nakamura, is a Keio professor, the posters for the conference were decorated with the Keio logo, with Yukichi Fukuzawa and Shibasaburo Kitasato, and the entertainment at the reception was a Keio University cheer leading squad and cheerleaders cheering for the conference, giving the event a strong Keio flavor. Although I am not from Keio University, I may have been able to taste that flavor.
