青梅看護学校講義 / Lecture at Ohme School of Nursing

　青梅看護学校にて、「これからの医療」というテーマで講義をしました。ゲノム編集やiPS細胞を使った最新の医療、およびそれを可能にした技術の基礎について、解説しました。恐らく、みなさんが学んでいることとはかなりかけ離れていたと思うのですが、もしかするとここから看護師として羽ばたいていく学生さん達の現役期間中に、これらの医療に関わる可能性もあるかもしれません。何か少しでもみなさんに伝えられていたらと願ってます。

　この日は写真で見てもわかる通り、とてもいい天気でした。青梅線はなかなか乗る機会がなく、河辺駅は初めて降りました。と言うと、私がこっちの方に縁がないように聞こえますが、私は青梅市の北に接している入間市で育ちましたので、ものすごく馴染みがあります。看護学校のすぐ近くに、茶畑があったりして、やはり私の地元と同じ文化圏であることを認識しました。いいところでした。

I gave a lecture on "Future Medical Care" at Tokyo Metropolitan Ohme School of Nursing. I introduced the latest medical treatments using genome editing and iPS cells, and the basics of the technologies that made them possible. I think it was probably quite far from what they are learning there, but there may be a possibility that the students who will become nurses from here may be involved in these medical treatments in the future. I hope I was able to convey something to them.

　It was a beautiful day, as you can see from the picture. I don't often have a chance to ride the Ohme Line, and this was my first time getting off at Kabe Station. Then, it sounds like I have no connection to this side of the city, but I grew up in Iruma City, which borders Ohme City to the north, so I am extremely familiar with it. There was a tea plantation right near the nursing school, and I realized that it was the same cultural area as my hometown. It was a nice place.
