第91回日本生化学会@国立京都国際会館 / The 91st Annual Meeting of the Japanese Biochemical Society in Kyoto

　日本生化学会に参加しました。京都国際会館に行くのは、2006年に開催されたthe 20th IUBMB-11th FAOBMB Congress以来12年ぶりでした。あの時は私はまだ学生でしたので、まだこの世界にいられることを嬉しく思います。一泊しかしませんでしたが、共同研究者の方々と食事もできました。また、自分の発表も特に問題なく終わったと自分では思っています。なぜ、HypaCas9が野生型Cas9よりHDR活性が高く、NHEJ活性が低いのか、本当にわからないのですが、今やっている研究で手がかりがつかめるといいと思っています。ご招待してくださった山本卓先生に感謝いたします。 　京都らしいことが全くありませんでしたので、せめてもの抵抗で帰りの新幹線を待つ間に夕食をにしんそばにしました。

I attended the 91st Annual Meeting of the Japanese Biochemical Society in Kyoto. It was held at Kyoto International Conference Center. The last time I visited there was for the 20th IUBMB-11th FAOBMB Congress in 2006, so it was 12 years ago. I was a graduate student at that time. I am glad that I am still in academia. I stayed in Kyoto only for 1.5 days, but still managed to have dinner with my collaborators. I think my presentation went well. It is still not really clear why HypaCas9 induces more HDR and less NHEJ than WT Cas9. Hopefully, we will find a clue from our current project. I thank Dr. Takashi Yamamoto for inviting me to the conference.

I could not do anything Kyoto-like in Kyoto, so I at least tried nishin-soba for dinner while I was waiting for my return Shinkansen.
