Droplet Digital PCR World 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand

　Bio-Rad主催のDroplet Digital PCR World 2023でセミナーをしました。タイのバンコクにて開催されました。私は2019年8月にベトナムに出張して以来、初の海外出張でした。留学中の2014年頃に、デジタルPCRを使ってゲノム編集結果を検出する系を開発するため、Bio-Rad社と共同研究を行い、その縁がまだ続いています。バンコクは2017年以来２回目の訪問となりました。デジタルPCRが各方面で活用されていることを改めて学びました。

　でかいスクリーンを背にして、ステージの真ん中に立つという、Apple CEOスタイルの発表に初めて挑戦しました（発表当日までこの形だと気付いておらず驚愕）。あんなに歩き回れないし、身振りも大きくはできませんでした。あと、聴衆側から見て左側のスライドにしか対応できませんでした。そもそも両側に対応する必要があるのかもわかりませんけど。あの形の発表ははあの形の練習が必要なようです。

I gave a talk at the Droplet Digital PCR World 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand. This was my first overseas trip since the trip to Vietnam in August, 2019. Our team and Bio-Rad collaborated to develop a ddPCR system to detect genome editing results around 2014. The relationship still continues (in a good way). This trip was my second one to Bangkok since 2017. It was great to see ddPCR has been utilized in such a wide range of applications.

I tried the "Apple CEO style" presentation standing in the middle of the stage in front of a big screen for the first time (I did not realize the presentation was done this way until that morning). I could not walk around on the stage or use my whole body to present my work like those CEOs. Also, I could only use one of the two slides on the big screen, although I do not know we have to use both slides anyway. I need to practice specifically for that style.

It was a great opportunity to present our work once again. The food was great too. Thank you for inviting me to the event.
