First ddPCR in the Lab

I tried the first ddPCR in the lab (actually first in Japan), and fortunately it worked. Regarding this success, I greatly appreciate our institute. Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Medical Science shares a lot of facilities and equipment among labs. Thanks to this system, I am able to use the ddPCR machines without buying them by myself (which is impossible). Moreover, I did not have to purchase 37C shakers (thanks to the Shibasaki Lab), fluorescent microscopes, confocal microscopes, FACS machines, and etc. It is not special at all in the US, but this environment is rare in Japan. I am lucky to be here. Now I am ready to address biological questions. 研究室で（日本で）初めてのddPCRがうまくできました。東京都医学総合研究所では、いろいろな施設や機器を共有する仕組みが整っています。おかげで、自分でddPCRの機械を買わないで実験することができます。ddPCRだけではなく、37C大腸菌シェイカー（芝崎研のおかげ）、蛍光顕微鏡、共焦点顕微鏡、FACSなどなどを共通機器として使用することができます。アメリカ留学中には、どこでもこういう感じで特別なものではありませんでしたが、日本でこの環境は貴重だと思います。医学研で研究できてよかったです。これでやっと、生物学的な課題に実際に取り組む準備が整いました。
